Frequently Asked Questions

Glen Ellyn has several distinct areas to consider, with convenient college access, a walkable downtown, and a residential setting around Lake Ellyn among the highlights. Three neighborhoods stand out:

The College of DuPage Corridor
Lambert Road and Fawell Boulevard frame this part of the village, where the college's 273 acre campus puts the McAninch Arts Center, the Russell R. Kirt Prairie, and a large share of local jobs within walking distance. Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes sits on Ramblewood Drive here, across Lambert Road from the campus and next to the Village Links golf course. Butterfield Road carries traffic from this area to I-355 and I-88.

Downtown Glen Ellyn
The blocks around Main Street and Crescent Boulevard hold the village's shops and restaurants along with the Metra station on the Union Pacific West line. The Illinois Prairie Path crosses through, giving walkers and cyclists a route without driving to a trailhead. The Village maintains ten commuter lots near the platform.

Lake Ellyn
The streets around Lake Ellyn Park, roughly two miles northeast of the college corridor, center on the lake and its boathouse. Mature trees and rolling terrain define the area, and the park draws walkers year-round.

Life in Glen Ellyn runs on two institutions, most villages its size do not have: a community college enrolling more than 20,000 students and a 240-acre municipal golf course. Both shape what renting here feels like.

A 240 Acre Golf Course That Doubles as Flood Control
The Village Links of Glen Ellyn opened in 1967 and spread 27 holes across 240 acres, serving as the village's stormwater detention system at the same time. It was the first public course in the world certified as an Audubon International wildlife sanctuary. Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes borders the course to the north-east.

A Community College of More Than 20,000 Students
College of DuPage sits on a 273-acre campus and employs 256 full time and more than 1,000 part time faculty. Its McAninch Arts Center runs a full performance and exhibition season, and the Russell R. Kirt Prairie preserves restored prairie, savanna, and marsh with mowed walking trails.

Two Metra Stations Within Three Miles
The Glen Ellyn station sits 22.4 rail miles from Ogilvie Transportation Center on the Union Pacific West line, and Wheaton's College Avenue stop offers a second option on the same line about 2.6 miles out. From Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes, downtown Chicago is reachable without driving into the city.

Forest Preserve Land Inside Village Limits
Willowbrook Forest Preserve covers 47.5 acres of woodland, prairie, and wetland along Glen Crest Creek. The DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center opened its visitor center there in January 2026, a 27,000 square foot net zero building and the Forest Preserve District's first.

From Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes on Ramblewood Drive, residents have convenient access to several of the village's larger destinations, many within a mile of home. Nearby highlights include:

Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes reaches downtown Chicago two ways: the Union Pacific West line from the Glen Ellyn station, 22.4 rail miles to Ogilvie Transportation Center, or Lambert Road south to Butterfield Road and the I-88 and I-355 interchanges. Education and health care dominate the nearer end of that corridor. Major employers include:

Amenities at Arbors of Glen Ellyn Apartment Homes split between outdoor grounds spread across ten buildings and indoor spaces that stay unlocked around the clock:

Swimming Pool, Sundeck, and Outdoor Living Space
The pool and its adjoining sundeck open for the warm months, with a separate outdoor living space pairing a gas grill with a fireplace. Picnic and barbeque areas occupy their own spots on the grounds rather than sharing the pool deck. A sand volleyball court and a playground with swings sit elsewhere among the buildings.

A Private Dog Bark Park and Trees Worth the Name
The fenced dog bark park gives pets a place to run on site, with two pets welcome per apartment home. Arbor views are a listed apartment feature, and the interior lanes are named for the ash, fir, cedar, spruce, larch, and alder trees along them. Village Green Park lies half a mile north for longer walks.

Amenity Spaces Open 24 Hours
The fitness center, business center, bicycle storage, and touch free package lockers all run around the clock, as does a laundry room in every building. Complimentary Wi-Fi covers the amenity spaces. The community room adds a fireplace and beverage center, and planned resident social events run through the year.

Apartment Features and Select Home Upgrades
Air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a gas cooking range, a dishwasher, and oversized windows come with every plan, along with walk-in closet space in the layouts that offer it. Select homes have been updated with new stainless-steel appliances and plank flooring, which vary by apartment home. Controlled key fob entry secures the buildings, and garage parking and rentable storage rooms are available.
